Concrete pressure pipes are core components of modern water transmission and drainage systems. This article systematically reviews their development history and technical classifications: from ordinary reinforced concrete pipes to prestressed concrete pipes (PCP), and further to high-performance prestressed concrete cylinder pipes (PCCP). It focuses on analyzing their common advantages: excellent compressive strength, corrosion resistance, long service life (exceeding 50 years), and environmental safety. It also notes that technological advancements are driving their evolution from “heavy-duty foundation components” to “intelligent system components,” providing reliable and economical solutions for urban underground pipeline networks.
